Chapter Meeting – 24 March 2012
Published on March 27th, 2012.
Greetings to all Fellow SRC Toastmasters and wishing you a wonderful week ahead.
Once again, we would like to acknowledge with thanks to all participants and audiences of the recently concluded International Speech and Table Topics Contest for coming forward to make this event a successful one.
You may have already heard this from the grapevine. Nevertheless, the official result of the contest is as per page 2/2 in the attached program sheet.
Congratulations to all our winners, especially to our Champion for both categories, Anne Marie Gutierrez. Anne will be representing SRC once again and compete with other champions from other clubs on 7th April (2 – 5 pm) at The Eurasian Community House. Let’s all endeavor to be there to give Anne our support and encouragement.
Four new members had joined our Toastmasters Club lately with the objectives of improving their public speaking and leadership skill. We are excited to see two of them BREAKING THE ICE at this Wednesday chapter meeting. Please be available to encourage and motivate them as they strive towards perfection in this journey. For those who missed Anne’s champion prepared speech, here is another opportunity for you to witness how she fired away and got the judges’ heart melted.
See you on Wednesday 28th March 7 PM.
With Best Regards

President’s Message – February 2012
Published on February 12th, 2012.
Fellow SRC Toastmasters,
The picture above depicts the amazing skyline of Singapore, one that we pride ourselves on. This amazing sight was captured not from the top of the Singapore Flyer, or the Marina Bay Sands Skypark, but a corner along the dainty footpaths of the esplanade bay.
Sometimes, the best sights need not be seen from the top of the world, but could be admired from the bottom up. As a member of this wonderful movement in Toastmasters, you need not be the best, but yet, you are given the opportunity to learn from the best.
You may feel good at the top of the world, but stand on the ground and breathe in the majesty of the environment around you, and I assure you, that you will feel great!
SRC Toastmasters built itself on a foundation strong enough to climb high, but with a heart that continuously strives to be better. We pride ourselves to stand amongst the top, but we serve and learn with an all-embracing humility.
In the blink of an eye, more than half-a-term has passed. Our achievements has so far been marked with pristine awards, achieving the Smedley Award in September, and more recently, tipped the charts with 10/10 Distinguished Club Points to become the President’s Distinguished Club! Soon, I was told by our VP-Membership, Rosalind Yip, we are set to also achieve the Talk-Up Toastmasters Award! All these would not have been possible without our members’ support, and the hardwork of my fellow exco members.
As of today, we have successfully recruited 12 members to be part of our fraternity. They are:
- Joseph M Pragasam
- Shakti Kumar Kantilal
- Soh Khee Fong
- Jeremy Lua
- Alvin Chua Chee Thiam
- Chin Mei Har
- Indru Lachmandas Khemaney
- Goh Kim Soon Steven
- Leo Chee Tong Roland
- Chugh Vijay Thakurdas
- Ang Lay Yong
- Pauline Wong
We welcome you on board this intriguing learning journey!
Our slew of activities will continue through the term with the International Speech and Table-Topics Contest coming up on March 14, the Annual General Meeting on May 9, a special session with the founding father of Toastmasters in the SE-Asia region, Gerald Green, DTM, Accredited Speaker on May 23, and finally the installation night on June 13. So if you have not signed up for any of these activities, remember to sign up today!
With that, I wish all of you enduring success in your journey to become better speakers and better leaders!
Yours Sincerely,
Leong Kaiyan, CC, CL

Chapter Meeting – 8th Feb 2012
Published on February 8th, 2012.
Dear Fellow SRC Toastmasters
Each year, millions of people post on Facebook to share what’s important to them, discuss world events, or just to catch up with friends. More than 800 million people are connected around the globe on Facebook. What about you ?
Our President Leong KY, had been receiving many requests and questions about Facebook over the last 2 years. Many toastmasters have also requested for workshops to help them better utilize Facebook and understand its capabilities.
If you are one of them struggling on how to better utilize the Facebook to suit your needs, here is a golden opportunity for you to be enlightened in only 15 minutes. Just come and attend this Wednesday 8th February chapter meeting.
If the above is not tempting enough, how about watching our District Governor Michael Rodrigues doing his advance project ? Now there is no reason NOT to be part of this Wednesday chapter meeting.
See you at the club.
Thanks and Regards

Chapter Meeting – 9 November 2011
Published on November 7th, 2011.
Greetings to all fellow SRC Toastmasters
Though we have only one chapter meeting in October due to a public holiday, we were never short of excitement, fulfillment and achievement. 12th October chapter meeting was carried out in Bollywood style to celebrate Deepavali – the festival of lights. We had our new member Alvin Chua doing his ice breaker and Bee Chai being accredited the title of Competent Communicator after successfully completing all his 10 projects. Thanks to Anne Marie Gutierrez, her marvellous achievement as the Division Champion in the Humorous Contest was like icing on the cake. November started off with another great achievement. Our gorgeous Rosaline Phan did her final two programs from the Better Speaker Series and The Successful Club Series at our Ex-Co meeting. With that, she will receive accolade from TI as the new Advanced Communicator – Silver. Our heartiest congratulations to Rosaline. Not resting on her laurels, Rosaline is continuing her journey with yet another meticulous presentation as usual. Come and witness another Ice Breaker presentation by a young aspiring Jeremy Lua who is currently reading Law in the University. Anne Marie, in preparation for herself to compete at the District level at the Semi-Annual Convention, will be presenting her “secret weapon” at this coming meeting with an improved version of her humorous speech. Please make yourself available this coming Wednesday 9th Nov at SRC 1883 lounge and be ready for a wonderful evening with all your fellow toastmasters.
Thanks and Best Regards
